Not surprisingly, gratitude is on my mind this week as the US celebrates Thanksgiving and many will be breaking bread with friends and family we don't see often enough.
I've written about the power of gratitude before and believe it has the power to shift our moods and energy in an instant. Frustrated in traffic? Say aloud three things for which you are thankful and allow yourself to really feel them. Waking up on Monday dreading work? How about starting the day listing those things that make you thankful - beginning with your favorite pillow and roof above.
You can't make a positive change in a negative mindset. It's just not possible. Starting your day on the right mental foot sets the tone for the day - no question.
I have a lot of hands-on experience with this idea during the last year. I haven't always had my favorite pillow and have spent more nights than I thought possible in my trusty sleeping bag. I've taken this practice to heart and find that I have gotten really good at turning things around - faster and more genuinely than ever before. It doesn't mean I'm sugar-coating the crap, it means I'm owning my reaction to the situation and the energy I bring to the moment.
I'm grateful for a LOT of things this season - including how this blog has evolved and for all the wonderful feedback you've shared with me. It's motivating and keeps me writing.
This season I have a challenge for you: Mind your presence on social media and be sure to post from a positive, grateful place. Find the good in the little moments and refrain for chiming in when the energy goes dark. I know some of you have already started a habit of gratitude, so I challenge you to stay positive whenever you post. Let's all be the positive energy we want to see this holiday season!
Thanks for reading :)
